Two men were taken to the hospital after being shot outside a bar in Raytown early Sunday morning.Raytown police were dispatched just before 1 a.m. April 20 to the Silver Fox, located at 7108 Ditzler Ave., on reports of gunfire.When they arrived, officers determined the shooting happened outside near the business’s parking lot.Investigators later learned the two men were self-transported to the hospital after reportedly being shot. Their conditions were not immediately available.No arrests have been made. The suspect then drove past the corner and opened fire nearly two dozen times.“We counted 20 to 22 bullet holes,” Day said.His family has owned Laurel Heights Automotive since 1967.Day said violence and property crime in the area are increasing and called for local action.“Something’s got to happen. Enough is enough,” he said.Day is urging Raytown officials to pass a nuisance ordinance, which he believes would give police more authority to address crime near businesses he says aren’t doing enough on their own.“It’s just devastating, pretty much,” Day said.The surveillance video shows the moment the victims and the suspect exited the bar. Around 1 a.m., as the victims walked to their vehicles, the suspect opened fire. Both the auto shop and the victims’ cars were struck.Day estimated about $30,000 in damages.“It’s just sad. That’s all I can really say,” he said.Day reiterated his concern about crime trends and the need for accountability.“Hold people accountable. You know, this has been a major topic for several months now,” he said. “Let’s try to crack down on it, let’s try to slow it down, at least.
